Play Responsibly
Gambling is meant to be entertainment. For most people, most of the time, it is. For some people it stops being fun and starts being a problem — and the line is usually crossed quietly, without anyone noticing until they're well past it. This page is the warning signs, the tools, and the help, all in one place.
Warning signs
If any of these sound like you, it's time to stop and reassess. None of them mean you definitely have a problem — but they all mean it's worth talking to someone:
- You're spending more than you'd planned, more often.
- You're chasing losses with bigger bets.
- You're hiding the play, the deposits, or the losses from people close to you.
- You're using money meant for rent, food, bills, or family.
- You're playing to escape a mood rather than for fun.
- You feel anxious, irritable or low when you're not playing.
- You've borrowed money to gamble — from people, credit cards, or buy-now-pay-later.
Tools at Jackpot Jill
Inside the operator's account settings, every Aussie player can set hard limits without contacting support:
- Deposit limits — daily, weekly, monthly. Effective immediately when reduced, 7-day cooling-off period when increased.
- Loss limits — caps the net loss across a period; stops further play when hit.
- Session reminders — pop-up every 30, 60 or 90 minutes showing time played and net result.
- Time-out — pause your account for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days.
- Self-exclusion — permanent closure. Cannot be reversed.
Australia-wide options
- BetStop (betstop.gov.au) — Australia's national self-exclusion register. Excludes you from every licensed Australian wagering operator. Free, takes minutes to register. Note: BetStop covers licensed Australian operators only; offshore operators like Jackpot Jill don't sync with it, so you'll need to set self-exclusion on each offshore site separately.
- GamBlock / BetBlocker — software you install on your devices to block gambling sites at the network level.
